Growing a Greener Future with Scoil Mhuire Abbeyleix

People First Credit Union Proudly Supports Scoil Mhuire Abbeyleix’s Ar Spás Glas Green Initiatives

People First Credit Union was honoured to attend the Ar Spás Glas flag-raising ceremony at Scoil Mhuire Abbeyleix — a celebration of the school’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

This proud occasion marked a significant milestone in the school's green journey, with students, staff, and local supporters gathering to raise the environmental flag with pride. At People First Credit Union, we were especially delighted to play a part in this initiative by sponsoring the school’s brand-new polytunnel — an exciting addition that’s already producing results.

Thanks to this resource, students at Scoil Mhuire have begun growing their own vegetables, learning hands-on about sustainable food production, teamwork, and the value of self-sufficiency. This autumn, they plan to harvest their crops and sell the produce to raise funds for school projects — a practical and inspiring example of sustainability in action. 🥕🌽💚

Supporting initiatives like this is at the heart of what we do. At People First Credit Union, we believe in empowering young people and building stronger, greener communities from the ground up. But we can’t do it alone.

When you become a member of your local credit union, you’re not just opening an account — you’re investing in your community. Every loan, every savings account, and every new member helps us give back to schools, clubs, and local projects just like this one.

Together, we’re planting the seeds for a brighter, more sustainable future.
