Credit Union Art Competition 2026 Is Now Open!

We’re delighted to announce that the Credit Union Art Competition 2026 is now open!

Now in its 43rd year, the competition is one of Ireland’s longest-running and most inclusive art competitions, celebrating creativity, imagination and self-expression across all ages.

This year’s theme is “A World of Colour”, inviting participants to explore the colours, experiences and perspectives that make our world unique. Whether your idea is bold and imaginative or thoughtful and personal, there are endless ways to bring the theme to life through art.

Who Can Enter?

The competition is open to everyone and features two categories:

• General Category
• Additional Needs Category

Each category is divided into five age groups, based on the entrant’s age on 31 December 2026:

• 7 years and under
• 8–10 years
• 11–13 years
• 14–17 years
• 18 years and over (Adult)

🎨 This Year’s Theme: A World of Colour

Participants are encouraged to interpret “A World of Colour” in their own unique way. Inspiration could come from:

• 🌿 Nature – landscapes, wildlife and the beauty of the world around us
• 🌍 Culture – traditions, places and the people who shape our communities
• 💭 Imagination – creative ideas, colourful worlds and anything you can dream up
• ✨ Everyday moments – finding beauty and colour in the little things

There are no limits to how you interpret the theme. So, get creative, think outside the box and use your artwork to share your own story.

🖌️ How to Enter

Entering is easy:

1. Choose your category and age group.
2. Create your artwork. Entries must be hand-drawn or painted; digital artwork will not be accepted.
3. Complete the official entry form.
4. Submit your artwork and completed form to any of our offices in Portlaoise, Athy, Abbeyleix or Stradbally.

The closing date for entries is Friday, 9 October 2026.

🏆 Judging and Prizes

Entries will be judged based on:

• Originality
• Creativity
• Interpretation of the theme

Local winners will progress to the regional competition, followed by the national stages, giving talented artists the opportunity to gain recognition and win prizes at each level.
