People First Credit Union publishes 2025 Social Impact Report
People First Credit Union has published its 2025 Social Impact Report, highlighting how the member-owned financial institution continues to reinvest in local communities while providing accessible financial services across its four branches in Abbeyleix, Athy, Portlaoise and Stradbally.
Serving more than 40,000 members, the report outlines the credit union’s impact across lending, financial services, community investment, youth engagement and environmental initiatives throughout the year.
The report shows how the credit union continues to support members through affordable loans, modern digital banking services and in-person support, while also investing significantly in local organisations, schools and voluntary groups.
During 2025, People First Credit Union provided over €72,000 in direct community funding, supported youth education initiatives and delivered financial literacy programmes in schools across the region. The report also highlights continued investment in sustainable practices and environmental initiatives.
The Social Impact Report has been produced to give members a clear picture of how the credit union operates as a not-for-profit cooperative, reinvesting its success back into the communities it serves.
Speaking about the report, Chair of the Board JJ Carey said:
"To our members, thank you for your continued loyalty and trust. Your decision to save, borrow and bank with People First Credit Union enables this social impact and keeps the credit union at the heart of community life.
As Chair, I take great pride in the achievements highlighted in this Social Impact Report 2025 and in the collective effort that made them possible. This report is both a celebration of what has been achieved and a reminder of the positive difference that can be made when a financial institution truly belongs to the people it serves."
